Most people either loved going to the dentist as a kid—or absolutely hated it. Where did you fall? How come?

I loved going to the dentist as a kid! My dentist always told me to choose my favorite "gelato" flavored prophy paste. After several trials, I determined that raspberry was best. To the 8-year-old me, it truly did taste like a nice cup of raspberry gelato.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Being able to see a person evolve as their smiles evolve, which often means seeing a person smile more and more throughout their orthodontic journey.

What’s your dream toothpaste flavor?

Mint chocolate flavor with minty breath strips!

What’s something your patients might be surprised to learn about you?

I love oil painting landscape or still life on a Saturday afternoon. When I was in middle school, I used to go to a painting class where I'd paint for 4-5 hours! In a way, painting has helped me develop an artistic eye and hone my dexterity skills, both of which I use for dentistry and orthodontics.

How do you recharge after a long week? What’s your go-to activity for hitting the restart button?

I recharge by jumping into the pool during the summer and doing hot yoga in the winter.

In another life, if you weren’t working in dentistry, what would you be doing?

Diving in the Great Barrier Reef as a Marine Biologist. That, or arranging bouquets as a florist.

When I’m in the patient chair, I’m probably grooving to [blank] in my headphones.
