Dr. Joel Ayon
Dr. Joel Ayon is a board-certified oral surgeon serving multiple Tend studios, including Flatiron, Wall Street, Grand Central, Upper West Side, and Park Slope. He earned his DDS from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to connect with a wide range of patients.

Thank goodness for Milana @ Wall St location. The Dentist is not my favorite place and my anxiety is pretty high each time I visit but Milana’s energy was very calming upon arrival. I recently joined as a new patient. I got a cleaning, and then a few fillings shortly thereafter. My experiences have been amazing. The staff are very friendly and welcoming yet also professional, you get to watch TV while they're doing the work, the office is very modern and elegant, and I especially felt welcomed as a queer person. Looking forward to coming back.
My first time at Tend and I’m glad I followed through with my appointment. Their office is really nice and clean and everyone was really friendly. My hygienist and Dentist were Shacore and Dr. Abernathy and they were both amazing. Shacore made me laugh the entire time and tried her best to make me feel comfortable. I would definitely go back.

Because of my absolute hatred of the dentist, it had admittedly been a few years since I’d had a cleaning and they found a decent number of cavities they will have to fill but they were so nice and chill about the whole thing and didn’t make me feel embarrassed about the number of fillings I was going to need to get.

I go to Tend in DC and honestly, it’s been the best dental experience I’ve had. Everyone there is super friendly and the whole place feels clean, modern, and calming. Dr. Soni is wonderful. She’s incredibly kind, gentle, and professional. I felt really taken care of, and she explained everything clearly without rushing. This was my first experience with Tend and it was wonderful, start to finish! Everyone I spoke with was very amicable. My past dental visits have been traumatizing. Leading me to shy away from the dentist for over a decade. Quite the opposite at Tend, the setting was very comforting. I have some complicated dentistry ahead of me, but feel very at ease with Tend. Kiara, the dental assistant, was lovely. The dentist, can’t remember his name, was kind and wasn’t judgmental at all. Tend is a very soothing facility. Love the color decor and the ceiling TV. Really positive experience. Beautiful aesthetically. Every detail was thought through. Got an appointment next day. Zero wait time. I’ve visited several Tend dental offices in both NYC and Boston, but the Kendall Square location is hands down one of my favorites. I always get a bit anxious about dental visits, but the moment I walked in, the team made me feel so welcome! Kimberly Nguyen, the hygienist who took care of me, was incredibly thorough in explaining what needed to be done, yet still so kind and patient. She really helped ease my nerves. Have been seeing Dr Payriani for years. And he is lovely. Overall I’ve been to many tend locations. Always great service and easy to get into and schedule with. The shift lead took the time to help with a billing issue today and was very kind and thoughtful!
I give my experience with tend a 10 out of 10. From walking into a beautiful inviting space and getting useful welcome gift, to staff and practitioners using your preferred name, it immediately sets you at ease. I especially loved walking into the hygienist suite where the TV monitor showed my message “Hello Manna, we’ve prepared this suite just for you.“ Each person I encountered was kind and attentive to comfort needs. They thoroughly explained each step of the process for examining my teeth then the doctor’s consultation followed by the cleaning. I am so glad that my insurance plan is in network with Tend because there isn’t another place. I’d trust with my dental health.
I love Tend! The office is beautiful and clean. My appointments are always on time and easy to book online. Lena’s cleaning today was the gentlest I’ve ever had. Watching TV during the appointment is relaxing. This makes going to the dentist enjoyable.
Lately I’ve felt like true hospitality is lacking in Atlanta, but Tend always makes me feel at home. Staff at tend is friendly, attentive, and professional. I’ve never really had to wait long once I arrive for my appointment, and punctually for me it’s important. I’ve had a couple of different hygienists and they’ve both been awesome. Last week, I was seen by a new doctor and he made me feel like he had been seeing me for years. I would name him but I can’t remember his name. The aesthetic at Tend is also really chill, while still feeling like you’re at the dentist. Modern and young, but still with homage to your classic dentist’s office. I love being able to watch a show during my cleanings. The only time I’ve had an inconvenience was when a hygienist called out sick and my appointment got rescheduled, but they’re open on Saturday so it wasn’t the end of the world (and people get sick). So glad they accept my insurance and I definitely recommend this place if it’s available to you!
My experience was wonderful. Staff and dentists are all warm, caring, and nonjudgmental. I had questions regarding billing, but they addressed it professionally and quickly, which made me feel like they genuinely care about their patients. (Their customer care along with their dentists and oral surgeons are all so professional, caring and attentive!) We’ll show you the maximum cost for your dental visit, so you’ll never pay more than you expect. We recommend coming in for a cleaning and checkup every six months, which is the standard for most patients. These regular visits help us catch small issues—like early signs of decay or gum disease—before they become more serious or expensive to treat.
However, some patients may need to come in more frequently, especially if they have a history of gum disease, wear orthodontic appliances like aligners, or are more prone to plaque buildup. Your first visit is designed to be both thorough and welcoming. Here’s what it includes:

- Digital x-rays for a detailed look below the surface (with significantly lower radiation than traditional x-rays)
- A gentle, professional cleaning tailored to your needs
- A one-on-one conversation with your dentist, who will walk you through any findings, answer your questions, and create a treatment plan if needed
We’ll also review your dental history, talk about your goals (whether it’s improving your oral health or brightening your smile), and give you time to ask questions—without feeling rushed.
The environment is designed to feel calm and spa-like, so you can relax and actually enjoy taking care of your smile.
Call us at 212-257-3455. Just make sure to do so more than 48 hours before your appointment time. If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours in advance, we’ll have to charge you a $50 fee. If you don’t make it at all, we’ll have to charge you a $100 fee. This is because we reserved that time specifically for you, and our appointments are in high demand.
